Solar Eclipse
We experienced a Solar Eclipse today. And of course, a new moon. The Moon has to be between the Sun and Earth for a solar eclipse to occur and that only happens during a New Moon.
It was a huge deal…The next solar eclipse that will be visible in my area of the world (Canada) will be in the year 2044.
I found myself curious about how the moon covers the entire sun when it’s so much smaller?
It is because the sun’s diameter is approximately 400 times larger than that of the Moon and it is also roughly 400 times farther away. And so despite the massive size difference, they look the same.
