Ocean ecosystems produce half the oxygen we breathe, represent 95% of the planet’s biosphere, absorbs 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions and captures 90% of the excess heat generated by those emissions. Earth’s waters are not just 'the lungs of the planet' but also its largest 'carbon sink'.
Now these waters are protected.
