Empowered by Prayer

Empowered by Prayer

The August Star Song Circle held an energy of “freedom of movement”. Whether it is in body, mind, emotion or spirit, this star song’s gift was one of harmonious, unencumbered, expansive movement. The beings who volunteered to bring this essence into creation were a copper sphere and a magical wooden branch whose form very much resembles a KNEE. How perfect is that for an essence that is all about ease of movement! They came just in time to offer a much needed energetic gift to a family member who fell and landed on both her knees.

I thought I was clear about what its gift was but as the vibrations of this magical star song just swept through here I went deeper into the energy of this essence and what was revealed was quite a surprise – it’s been a month of surprises. As I was experiencing the emanations of this mystical star song I began to become aware of a deeper layer to this spirit’s essence. What I was feeling and the message that I was receiving was that this star song is about being … “empowered by prayer”. That may appear to be quite a different message than the “freedom of movement” but I came to understand that these 2 concepts are much more connected than they may seem.

If you stop to think about it for a moment you can see the link between “empowered prayer” and “falling to our knees” as both are echoed in the knee shaped branch. I also noticed that, while wood is soft and organic and copper is hard and metallic, both bend and curve naturally during growth. But once they have taken shape, they stay rooted in this posture. So sometimes the connections between things are not immediately apparent.

Being on your knees is associated with dis-empowerment – with being dominated – with surrender to a ruling power. It is also a position of spiritual surrender. A giving over of body, mind and heart to the Divine in complete trust. They are opposing intentions and differing conscious states. One empowers and one disempowers. Yet the physical stance is the same for both. It is not a co-incidence that these two states of surrender are sy7mbolized by one position – being brought to our knees. (The 7 just appeared there and I felt it was symbolic as it has the same shape as a bended knee).

I felt there was more to understand so I asked these magical beings what else we needed to know? This was the answer I received:

Falling to your knees in complete surrender is a difficult stance for you to take.

You associate it with being controlled – with being dominated – with being broken. You see it as losing your power.

And when you bow down in this way to an egoic power – a military or government command or a cult leader or even societal and peer influence, then YES – you are bending your will and giving them your power.

But spiritual surrender is much different. When you come to your knees in communion with the Divine you are not giving up anything except your attachment to the physical body. You still have your will and your freedom. Only now you have it in concert with the Divine Song. You realize your oneness with All That Is.

After this profound clarity I realized that it made so much sense that I found the wooded “knee” branch at a synagogue – a place where prayer is uttered ever day.

Though “freedom of movement” and “empowered by prayer” seem to be about two different things, I was shown the parallel between them. I have come to understand that it is only when we live as our true and authentic selves that we can hope to taste this freedom that we all seem to be searching for. And that means embracing ALL of who we are – which includes our spiritual side. In order to be open to our spirit we must surrender to the Divine presence and embrace a relationship with our Creator. It is through this open dialogue with our Creator that we become “empowered by our prayer” and that is what leads to freedom of movement …

It is only when we live a truthful existence that we can live freely. And it is only when we accept all aspects of who we are that we can live truthfully.
