Day 2

Day 2

We spoke yesterday of how we all breathe the same air. We are also connected to each other through the stars.

We are made of Stardust

"We are a way for the universe to know itself. Some part of our being knows this is where we came from. We long to return. And we can, because the cosmos is also within us. We're made of star stuff."—Carl Sagan

All organic matter was originally produced in stars over 4.5 billion years ago. When a massive star dies the supernova explosion, which can shine a billion times brighter than our sun, sends out a large cloud of dust and gas throughout the universe.

So, all life on Earth and the atoms in our bodies were created in then furnace of now-long-dead stars.”—Chris Impey
