Rising to greatness
Two high school students proved the Pythagorean Theorem using trigonometry, something that was said to be impossible.
Calcea Johnson and Ne’Kiya Jackson took on the challenge for a competition, hoping to win the $500 prize.
Their math teacher, Michelle Blouin Williams, was not expecting her students to solve the problem. She was looking to inspire them. St. Mary’s Academy’s president Pamela Rogers believes all her students can learn and succeed.
“We were not shocked… our students can do anything. And that’s what we tell them. You know, ‘The sky is the limit, and we want to be up there with you,'”
When someone believes in you, it’s easier to rise to their expectation.
